I want this

This knitting pattern:

Because I like this hat and it would actually look good on me, as opposed to most hats that either don't fit or look awful; except for the hat I got in Oregon.

But this pattern is $5.95 and I don't want to pay that much just for a knitting pattern...but I can't seem to find a free pattern that looks the same! And this pattern looks like it would just about fit me, even with my head that doesn't fit most hats.

I guess it's a really good thing that we don't still go to a church that requires headcoverings, because there is no way I could find a fancy hat that fit me, and I certainly can't get a pinned doily to stay on my head! When we went to a church that required headcoverings, I was fairly young and was able to find a straw hat for the summer and some sort of beret for winter (and I have no idea how I kept that on my head). And woe unto you if your hat blew off of your head outside, for you were not to run on the Sabbath, even for the sake of chasing your proper headcovering! :) For me that meant more often that I couldn't run if someone else's strictly sabbatarian parents were nearby, because I don't think my mom and dad had any problem with my running!

Anyway, at least I don't have to worry about having to wear a hat, but I would like to have a few cute ones that fit!

Too many things to comment on...

1. Nice color change! Very wintery!

2. The model in that hat looks like Jess!

3. You are a tightwad.

4. I didn't remember that kids had to wear headcoverings...are you SURE you did? Maybe just for special occasions? Or have I conveniently blanked out that little bit of legalism?

5. It was okay to run on Wednesday nights, because Wednesday is not sanctified like Sunday. That's why you used to beg to go to prayer meeting...so you could play Freeze Tag afterward. Unfortunately for you, your father and I didn't have the incentive of a rousing game of Freeze Tag to look forward to so all we got out of prayer meeting was the "I'm praying more fervently for the salvation of the lost than you are" wars. Bleahh....

I thought the kids (girls) had to wear headcoverings, but maybe it was more of "they might as well get used to it" sort of thing. I forgot about Wednesdays!

Yeah, that girl does look kind of like Jess!

The only problem with my header picture is that it's hard to read my blog description over it...I tried several different font colors, but none of them showed up real well. The thing is, part of the font is on white and the rest is on a dark spot!

I love the color! It makes me want to mess around with colors on my blog...

I have a hard time with hats, too (which you already knew). They don't make hats for people with big pointy ears. But I love hats anyway :)

Why is it considered impolite to wear hats in some churches but required in others (and none of them would like my hat :D)?? That bugs me.

Could you edit your blog title into the picture itself? If so, you'd have a lot more control over the font used. I'd bet that just about any color combined with a contrasting thin outline would show up well.

Something like this, perhaps: http://tinyurl.com/2njq25

I suppose Blogger might not let you do this...

Thanks! Here's a webpage with a bunch of instructions for html:http://www.pageresource.com/html/index.html

I'm not sure what you mean by impolite to wear hats in church?

Yes, I could change the picture itself. That's what Dad wanted to do originally...I just need to figure out how to do that, or have him do it for me!

So many cans of worms, so little time!

Maybe that's just guys who aren't supposed to wear hats in church. But most of the hats I wear wouldn't be allowed either. I'm confused now...

Some friends and I agree that you look nice in a hat.

Rebecca, it is just guys that aren't supposed to wear hats inside.

Mandolinartist, thank you! Wait...friends??

What? You think the Mandolinartist has no friends? For shame...

Oh, no of course not!!! That did come out wrong...I was just wondering who was reading my blog!
