Random pictures & comments
I don't have much time for a long post today, or really a whole lot to say, so just some pictures and stuff.
First: I finished my memo board on Sunday. And I got it, and some other stuff hung up today. Close-up and further away:
This is how I found the cat yesterday. She's not supposed to get on the counter, but that doesn't mean she doesn't get up there. She claimed she was chasing a bug...
And after she saw me with the camera:
"I just try to save you from giant, human-eating bugs, and do you thank me? No!"
And the flip-flops I got on... Wednesday I think... and my nicely painted toenails! They're not quite that bright in real life...my nails that is...my extremely un-tanned legs are that bright! :-) That pic's for you, Zoe :-) ... and no, you can't have my flip-flops!
Well, I've got a sleep-over to go to, so I'll probably be really tired tomorrow, and probably won't post anything. Then I've got another sleep-over on Thursday...
By the way, when I get done with my room I will take pictures of all of it to show you.
Faith, thanks for commenting, and thanks for your suggetion! I found some velvety, black fabric, so that's taken care of. I haven't gotten it yet, but it should be here soon. I did look at Kohls.com, and didn't find anything, but I know they have almost completely different stuff in the store! However, the only store in Winston is on the other end of town from us, so we don't get out there very often except on Sundays, but there's not much time then!
Well, I better go!

Busy, very busy
Okay, so this is going to be a really quick post because, as you may have guessed from the title, I'm busy. I haven't written for a while, so I thought I'd better get something posted, people keep telling me I haven't posted anything in forever!
Anyway, let's see, what have I been up to? I got the trim painted in my room, so the painting is really all done now, except for the doors, but they can be taken down and painted whenever I have time...and maybe when it's not so hot in the garage!
I've got stuff moved back into my room. I liked the feel of my mattress and boxspring on the floor, so I've ditched the bedframe, and now I can use my bed like a couch too, which is really cool. I wanted a couch, but there's no way I could afford one, or find one small enough to fit, so I solved two things at once this way! Yay! Now I'm on a search for either black, king-size pillow shams, or fabric that looks neat, but is not too expensive so I can make shams. I've got two king-size pillows that I was planning on putting on the side of my bed, up against the wall, so they would sort of be the back of the "couch". (I guess it's sort of a daybed... but not the hideously tacky "daybeds" that look like half of a brass baby crib, or something! You know what I mean?) Anyway, you wouldn't believe (unless you'd looked also) how hard it is to find black king-sized shams... for less than, like, $40! If I wanted standard size I could have gotten several, but for some reason I can't find the right size. And fabric-wise, for anything like, corduroy, faux-suede, micro-suede, moleskin, velour, etc., it seems to cost about ten dollars a yard... and I need about 5 yards! So that's frustrating. That and getting what was supposed to be black & white fabric, but is really black and beige...but that's a long story. At least I already have some other b&w fabric which I think is going to work for my bulletin board. Oh yeah, a couple years ago, I covered my bulletin board with batting and fabric, so it's one of those "memo boards" with the criss-crossed ribbons and stuff. And I think I'll have about a yard and a half left over for a piece of fabric across the top of my dresser, and maybe even enough for a pillow.
My dresser, that reminds me, I switched dressers with my little brother, so he has my wood one, and I have his more modern white one. It goes better with my decor. I need to get some pulls for it, and clean the pencil marks off the side, and it will look pretty cool! I'm having a little trouble getting used to it though, because it's shorter than mine was!
What else have I done? Oh yeah, I got some really cool fabric that's black with little gray swirls on it, and I've stapled that to the sides of my bookshelf. It's fake wood, so I couldn't stain it black, and everything we looked at online about painting bookshelves says that latex paint won't ever dry enough and the books will stick. And I don't want to use oil paint, and I definitely don't want my books to stick to the shelves! So the fabric is on the sides, and I'm going to glue ribbon on the edges where the staples are, and along the front edges of the shelves. Tastefully of course, not so that it looks like "I have a fabric-covered bookshelf! Isn't it so cute and FABRIC-COVERED?" Really, the fabric I picked out looks almost solid black from a distance, and very nice. I'll post pictures sometime when I get a chance.
Also, Mom and I went to CVS on Tuesday, I found some thumbtacks and black nail polish. Now, let me tell you that finding thumbtacks (colored ones, with some sort of coating on them, not plain brass) is as hard to find as the aforementioned pillow shams!!! Anyway, I found them (at CVS of all places) and no, I'm not painting my nails black, that's for the thumbtacks. Sorry to scare anyone! I need the thumbtacks for my bulletin board, and also for another decor feature in my room, which I'll tell you about when I get around to working on it...which might be this Sunday, if I have the stuff I need by then, because my friend who loves decorating (and you know who you are!) is going to stay here Sunday afternoon and help me with my room! Thanks, girl! :)
And I cleaned my carpet, and washed, ironed, and re-hung my curtains. So I'm moved back into my room, and I just got the last of my stuff out of the dining-room this morning!
Well, I think you're all up to date now, and if I think of anything else, I'll post later! Okay, this ended up being a pretty long post, but I type really fast, so it didn't take me too long! :)
Oh, if you don't know what I meant about the bulletin board, Google "memo board" and you'll see what I mean.
Okay, I 've GOT to go, I have a Science test that needs to be done, and some other work!

Fourth of July
We just got back from seeing fireworks up in King (a tiny little town a little bit north of here). It was a really good show. I took pictures of the fireworks and I got a few good ones. I'll post a few. It wasn't too hot, which was nice. In fact, I was a little bit chilly at times. And either the bug-repellent we got works really well, or there just weren't any mosquitoes, but we didn't get bitten. We had a really good view of the fireworks. We pulled into a subdivision where they're building duplexs, so there weren't too many people around, and no street lights to interfere. I'll post the pictures in another post I think.
Several people mentioned to me that in my post yesterday, I forgot to say whether I liked the color of my walls... I do! It still looks a little bit gold when there's nothing in there, but it will look fine when I get stuff moved back in. I'm going to clean the carpet tomorrow. I can't paint the trim until the wall paint dries enough to put tape on it, so I thought I'd do the carpet in the meantime. My grandparents have a steam carpet cleaner thing, so I'm going to use that. And sometime I want my dad to put some more shelving in my closet for more storage, but that doesn't have to be done right away, although I'm kind of redoing my whole room! New paint, clean carpet, more storage, some new decor, different colored furniture maybe... Oh yeah, I don't think I mentioned, that when I get one thing done, I go overboard and do a whole bunch! So, I'll like start cleaning the house for company and end up cleaning out the closets (or whatever) which they'll never even see and didn't need to be done! But my dad does the same thing, so at least I'm not the only one! :)
So that's what I'll be doing tomorrow! And for those of you who will see me at Wednesday night church, that's why I'll be either yawning, or limp and worn out! Ha-ha! Well, hopefully I won't be either!
Ugh, now I'm itching from the bug-repellent... sheesh, you can't win no matter how hard you try!
A note to anybody who may have tried to post a comment... several people told me they had, but I never got the email to post it. They've tried again, and been successful, so if you commented and it didn't get posted, please try again!

Done!!! It's done!
I finished painting my room today! With dad's help! I wouldn't have been able to get it done if he hadn't helped! So, I just have to wait till it dries, oh wait... I just remembered that I still have to paint the trim... oh well. Anyway, after that's done I can start moving stuff back in there. Of course, I still have to decorate it, and I was thinking about staining the furniture sometime, but the really hard part is done anyway. I don't have any pictures, because I'm not on my computer, but I'll get some up tomorrow probably, or maybe later tonight.
Oh, and I got my learner's permit today!!! Yay!!!! What wasn't fun was sitting in the DMV for 3 1/2 hours, waiting... ugh. But I've got it now, only got one question wrong on the test, and we don't have to go back for a year. My friend went today also, but she and her dad got there too late, the man working there said they wouldn't have time to get them in! Plus she forgot one of her papers, but she was excited for me! She's going on Friday, I think, like as soon as they open.
And my picture turned out really well! Which I really wasn't expecting, since I don't photograph well, and DMV photos are notoriously bad... so that's really cool! I actually look good! :)
I can't think of much else to say, so I guess I'll just sign off!

Painting...first layer
Well, today I got the first coat of paint on the walls. It... well, it doesn't look as dark as I thought it would, and it looks more yellow/gold than I thought it would... hmmm... Right now all I can do is wait to see how it looks when it dries completely. It will probably look darker, plus seeing the blue tape around the trim is making it look different.
Here's a picture of how it looked yesterday, before the paint:
Complete with all the junk in my room! I moved my bed back in there for a couple nights while it didn't smell like paint too badly. Since I painted, I moved it back out to the living room, but it takes up a lot of room, so that's not real great.
So here's a picture of what I got done today... and all that stuff I wrote up there about it darkening and everything... that was to comfort me! I'm really freaking out about the color! It's too gold! It's not dark enough! Here's the picture:
I darkened the picture so that it would look like it does in person, it was a whole lot lighter in the original picture. The color is named "Moose Mousse" by the way... it sounds vaguely disgusting... I saw on someone's blog they were talking about this color and I think they said something about it bringing to mind visions of moose and blenders... which it does... um, yeah, anyway...
So that's how it looks, and hopefully it will change some, because I'm not really too sure about it.
Oh, and on another note... Colin (my little brother) walked in there after I had finished, says "Ohhh! It's all Moose Mousse colored!... I really hate this color." Oh thanks! That's just great! He says it needs to be darker! And keep in mind here, that he is only 4, almost 5! I mean, a total expert on decorating right? Right... (insert sarcasm and British accent).
I don't know when I'm going to get around to painting the second coat. I'd probably have time tomorrow, but I don't think I feel like painting tomorrow. Oh, and I've got paint in my hair, which may or may not come out before church tomorrow... hopefully it will! I know I had paint all over my hands, and I think I scratched my head, or brushed my hair out of my face, or something. It didn't come out when I washed my hair, maybe it will come out when I brush it... which I need to do before it dries completely! Gotta go!
