Look what I got!

Or what I bought, rather. I wasn't really thinking I'd end up buying a car until this fall, but we went by the dealership Monday night and saw this car. It's a 2000 Nissan Altima, but it only has 81K miles on it! Plus it came with a warranty, so that's pretty awesome too.

Dad and I stopped by after work yesterday and test-drove it and the only problem I found with it was that it pulled to the right, but they did an alignment on it today, and it was fine when I drove it again.

So I have an awesome car! I'm so happy I can't stop grinning. :D

Two things:

I started wishing my name was shorter after signing my full name to multiple papers. Dang, my full name has a lot of letters in it...

Also, the car salesman who did all the paperwork made some remark about me being so young. I'm getting ever so slightly tired of hearing that. Yes, I'm only twenty, but really? Since when is that SO terribly young? Ah well. :D

But I have my own car. For real. I don't think it's quite sunk in yet...I suppose it might sink in when I see the chunk missing out of my bank account. ;) And now I need to wash and wax it, get the battery checked, and get a second key made...and probably some other stuff...like adjusting my budget to pay for gas and such.

This looks like a really nice car! I like the color. The mileage is definitely great!

(I guess you won't need any more rides! :( :) )

Yeah, I'm really happy I found one in a nice color AND with good mileage!

No, I guess not. :D

Congratulations on the car! I work on a lot of vehicles every year (usually a dozen or so Altimas), and I've to say that they're good vehicles, and I bet you'll be happy with it ;-)

Thanks! And that's good to hear...I know all the reviews I read were very positive, so I'm hoping it will live up to its reputation. :)

Ooo, that IS good looking! Also, super annoying about people playing the young card. I get that all the time for being pregnant. But, hey, it's true, I don't own a car yet!

Ohh, yeah, I guess you would. I mean...what are you doing having a baby when you're only 20?!! (Which is really quite awesome, but I can see people making remarks about it.) ;)

Ooo! Aren't we going up in the world! :D

Now you can come dancing at State or Carrboro? ;P

Ah, I love my friends...they immediately start mentioning contra dances I should go to!

I don't know, that would be fun sometime. I'll have to see what my dad thinks about road trips. :) Maybe if I get someone else to go with me.

You still need to make it to Winston sometime though. ;)

I'm sure you know all this, but be sure to budget for car insurance, deductible(s), and repairs.

Unless your new friend just had a lot of work done, it's probably going to be due for new brakes and (maybe) a muffler soon, as well as some fresh hoses and a new serpentine belt.

None of those items are wretchedly expensive if you've planned ahead, but if you're not thinking of them, they tend to bite you when they show up.

Make sure you have your dad drive your car once a month or so, as some car problems set in so gradually that the primary driver doesn't even notice them. For example, someone who just drives it once in a while might be more likely to notice worn brakes than someone driving the car every day.

Yes, that was the "and such" in my remark about budgeting for "gas and such". :) I need to do some figuring and decide how much I need to budget.

Dad said the hoses looked really good, but I don't know about the other stuff. The brakes are really good right now.

And I usually notice problems on the Taurus, but I'll keep that in mind.
