Authentic and cool...or a poser?

This article in the paper cracked me up this morning! It's a very well-written, somewhat snarky* article. :p

CONVERSION: Origin as a basketball shoe is only a small part of the phenomenal sneaker saga

By the way, I'm sorry that my "No we're not" post didn't make much sense...I went back and reread it and realized I must have been more tired than I thought! It kind of rambled and got off-topic several times. So, for anyone who was able to make sense of it, good for you; and to everyone else, I'm sorry. I'll try to make sure I'm actually awake before I try to write! :D

*Firefox doesn't think snarky is a word. Ha!

I like them because they are beautiful while most sneakers are fairly ugly...

Shrug. Whatever.

In my little old people world, Converse sneakers are nerd shoes. In the very early years of grade school boys wore Converse and girls wore Keds...the kind with the rounded rubber toe.

In high school nobody wore "sneakers", we wore "running shoes". Reeboks, Kangaroos, maybe Nikes...I don't remember when Nikes came out. If a boy had worn Converse back then he would have been wearing them with striped flared high-water pants and glasses with big black plastic frames. And his underwear would be showing over the waist of his pants. (Wait a minute...DOOdooDOOdoo...spooky music)

Somewhere along in there preppy stuff came back in style, too. People who wore Izods and khakis might wear "court shoes", but usually just Topsiders with no socks. Girls wore Keds again in the 80s, but they were the grown-up kind with no toe guard. We wore them with cute anklet socks with ruffles and bows. And pleated high-waisted jeans that didn't show our bare fannies off for all the world to see. And puff-sleeved shirts.

That's all sort of mixed up in my mind in a fog, though, so some of those dates might be wrong.

Hmm while I am neither a rebel, a greaser, a juvenile delinquent or a misfit, I have continued to buy their shoes for the past 13 odd years :p

Okay, I didn't know snarky was a work either. Man, I'm just totally out of the loop. *sighs*

Or maybe your family isn't snarky, Ana. :)

I didn't think very many people said snarky, but then Olivia said her family does, so I know it's not just our family anyway! :D
