...yep, must be wrong

I forgot about the other thing I was going to mention yesterday: the wrong number that makes you wonder where it was they were trying to call.

So yesterday the phone rings, and I answer it:

Me: "Hello?"

A male voice says: "Uhhhhh..."

Ah, that's a promising beginning! Nice, bright, cheerful greeting, very intelligent sounding...not. :p Oh, apparently he didn't want to talk to me anyway...

Male: "I guess... Do I?... Hmm... I must have the wrong..." (silence) "I think... Yeah, this must be the wrong number... uhhh..." (silence)

Me: "Yes... that's okay..." (no reply, so I hang up the phone)

So where ever he was trying to call there wouldn't have been girls answering the phone, I guess? He seemed very surprised! :D

At least he wasn't expecting a Yankee girl. :)

Maybe he was trying to get the exhaust place; their number is so close.

This made me remember a wrong call I got the other day. I answered the phone and the person started talking in Spanish, after a minute they stopped and I said hello. The woman on the other end then proceeds to haltingly say she speaks no English and starts speaking in Spanish again!

We're getting a ton of wrong numbers and collections calls here on our distinctive ring line (2nd number routed to our main phone line).

Last night, the main line rang as we were sitting down to supper. I answered... and the woman on the other end of the line said "Wanda?"

Poor Wanda must sing all the bass parts in the church choir...

Wow, Uncle Jim, that was a low blow for poor Wanda. But it was really funny :)

What about those people who call the wrong number and then insist that it must be right... 'I don't know a "John Doe," I have never known a "John Doe," he of course then does not live here. YES you have the wrong number...

Ah, these comments are cracking me up! Especially Wanda...I can just hear that! :D

Mandolinartist, we got one of those a couple weeks ago. We're always getting calls for the Iselys because the phone book still lists them as having this number, but this lady did NOT believe me!
No, this isn't their number, they used to have this number...Try the one for on Peter's Creek...No, I don't know where they live! This has been our number for all the TEN years we've lived in this house!

I don't think she was really even listening to me! :D
